Traveling to Italy with Family: Kid-Friendly Apartments

Pubblicato il ·di Cosmica Rentals Team·2 min read

Italy with kids is magical — gelato for breakfast negotiations, pigeon chasing in piazzas, and pizza that even the pickiest eater will love. But it requires different planning than a couples' trip. The right apartment makes all the difference.

Space Matters More Than Stars

A hotel room with two adults and two kids gets cramped by day two. An apartment with a separate living area means kids can watch a movie while parents enjoy a glass of wine after they are asleep. Look for properties with at least two bedrooms and a proper living space. All of our Cosmica Rentals family apartments are selected for space and comfort.

The Kitchen Is Your Secret Weapon

Eating out three times a day with children is exhausting and expensive. A kitchen lets you make quick breakfasts, pack picnic lunches, and cook simple dinners on the nights when everyone is too tired for a restaurant. Italian supermarkets are excellent and affordable — fresh pasta, sauce, and salad for four people costs under fifteen euros.

Location: Safe and Walkable

Choose neighborhoods with wide sidewalks, parks nearby, and low traffic. In Milan, the area around Parco Sempione is ideal. In Naples, the Chiaia district is more family-friendly than the historic center. In Bologna, the streets around Giardini Margherita offer green space and playgrounds within walking distance.

What to Ask Before Booking

Does the apartment have a crib or high chair? Is there an elevator (Italian buildings often do not have one)? Is the kitchen equipped with a microwave and basic cookware? Are there stairs inside the apartment? These details matter with small children. At Cosmica Rentals, we list all amenities and baby-friendly features on each property page.

Kid-Friendly Activities in Italy

Milan: the Natural History Museum and the Science Museum are both excellent for children. Naples: the Acquario in Villa Comunale is free and fascinating. Bologna: the Sala Borsa library has a dedicated children's section with books in multiple languages, and the Two Towers are a fun climb for older kids.

Practical Tips

Italian restaurants welcome children and serve food quickly. Pharmacies (farmacie) stock baby formula, diapers, and children's medicine. Public transport in all three cities is stroller-accessible on newer buses and trams, though metro stations sometimes lack elevators.
