A furnished apartment usually makes more sense than a hotel when an employee relocates to Milan for several weeks or months, brings family, or works from the accommodation. Before you book, confirm the invoicing, minimum stay and extension terms in writing, because they differ between providers.
HR teams often default to a hotel because nobody has time to compare options. This guide explains when an apartment is the better fit and what to ask any provider, including us. We do not publish a corporate price list: apartment availability and rates are shown on each listing for your dates, and corporate conditions are agreed with us in writing.
What counts as corporate housing?
A furnished apartment, usually with utilities included, managed by an operator and rented for a month or more. It is sometimes called a serviced or extended-stay apartment. The core idea is the comfort of a home with the reliability of a managed property.
When an apartment beats a hotel
- Stays of several weeks or months: laundry, a kitchen and personal space matter more the longer the stay.
- Stays with family: an apartment can host a partner and children without booking multiple hotel rooms. Our Milan listings include apartments with up to two bedrooms and capacity for up to six guests.
- Hybrid work: a living area is a better place to work from than a hotel room.
- Uncertain end dates: ask whether the stay can be extended, and on what terms.
What to ask any provider before booking
- Invoicing: can the invoice be issued to the company, with its VAT number and billing address?
- Minimum stay and price: what is the minimum number of nights, and is the total price stated in writing?
- Extensions and cancellation: what are the terms for extending or cancelling, per rate plan?
- Single point of contact: who does the employee call, and in which languages?
- Legal compliance: does the apartment carry its CIN, and will the host register the guest with the police? See documents needed to check in and how to check a direct booking.
- What is included: utilities, Wi-Fi, linen, cleaning during the stay.
- Local taxes: the city tax is paid in addition to the rate: see tourist tax in Milan and Naples.
